There was a moment a few years back when I was tasked with making a dessert for my best friend's bridal shower. The air buzzed with excitement, laughter echoing through the kitchen as colorful balloons floated above us. I thought, why not create something dazzling? That’s when the idea of a rosé velvet cake splashed into my mind, starting a delightful adventure filled with laughter and a hint of chaos. The sight of that elegant pink cake glistening with gold finish made every mishap worth it.

When I brought the cake to the bridal shower, the look on my friend's face was priceless—a mix of surprise and awe. Everyone gathered around, their eyes glimmering with anticipation as I cut the first slice. The combination of flavors and the stunning presentation instantly lifted the mood, sparking joy and laughter. It wasn’t just a cake; it was a centerpiece that turned moments into sweet memories.

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour: This is the backbone of the cake, giving it structure and fluffiness that balances the moistness.
  • Granulated sugar: Sweetens the cake and helps create that delightful fluffy texture.
  • Baking soda: Ensures your cake rises beautifully without a heavy texture.
  • Vegetable oil: Adds moisture and richness that butter alone can’t achieve.
  • Rosé wine: This is the star ingredient that infuses a subtle flavor and beautiful hue.
  • Edible gold luster dust: For that luxurious finish that makes the cake absolutely stunning.

Instructions

Preheat and prepare:
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and ready your cake pans by greasing and lining them with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
Mix the dry ingredients:
In a large bowl, sift together all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking soda, fine salt, and cocoa powder until well combined.
Whisk the wet ingredients:
In another bowl, mix vegetable oil, eggs, buttermilk, rosé wine, vanilla extract, and white vinegar until everything is smooth and harmonious.
Combine wet and dry:
Gently fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just incorporated, ensuring not to overmix for a soft cake.
Color and pour:
Add the pink gel food coloring until you reach your desired shade and evenly divide the batter into the prepared pans.
Bake to perfection:
Set the cakes in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean, filling your kitchen with enticing aromas.
Cool the cakes:
Let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Buttercream bliss:
Beat room temperature butter until creamy, slowly adding powdered sugar, then mix in rosé wine, vanilla, and a pinch of salt until fluffy.
Assemble the cake:
Level the cooled cakes if needed, layer with buttercream, and apply a thin crumb coat before chilling to perfection.
Create the gold drip:
Melt white chocolate chips and cream until smooth; let it cool slightly before painting it on your cake edges, followed by the edible gold for a touch of glam.
